As a matter of policy, much of the often distasteful yet public domain or relaxed-rights material is still housed here, but is typically moved by curators to more specific collections.

BTW, I just searched, and found copyrighted stuff that has been on IA since 2007. Please Remove:

IA could of been sued by Universal Music. BTW, Is there a website where I can get the copyright status of British music recordings? I have some long out-of-print 60's records by companies which have been defunct for years, and I wonder if they are PD.

I don't know about British resource material, but the Abba is taken down, thanks!

I'm guessing typical first recourse in the US nowadays probably isn't a lawsuit but a DMCA takedown notice. Cheaper!
